IN account options you can put new activation codes in. That is where you put the ones from expansions and it gives you added things to your account. And WOW is so not worth forking out for $15 each month.
It is not a rip off paying for an expansion.. it works out cheaper and keeps Anet's servers alive. *waits in anticipation to slice and dice with an assassin* |

This time I'm definitly Pre-Ordering, unless there's nothing like an in-game item or something, which I hope there will be, like the ones from China and Taiwan, those or hot!
I'm not too sure about the CE though, if I'd get something like that "Divine Aura", no thanks, it only looks lame in my opinion. |

Diablo 2 LoD was an expantion; same price as the orginal...
How much does Guild Wars cost? How much will additional chapters cost? Guild Wars is priced at a comparable cost to other first-tier PC games. The subsequent chapters of Guild Wars will be comparably priced in relation to other games. Chapters sounds like an expantion to me. Expansions require the original game to play. Chapter 2, as stated in other threads as well as on the GW website, doesn't require Chapter 1.

name any expansions that doubled the amount of content, as Chapter 2 is *supposed* to do.
btw Savio, any link to that? I know you usually know what you're on about hehe but just coz last I heard (i.e. before GW was even out) you would need Chapter 1 but not any of the other chapters (so cuold have 1 & 3, or 1 & 9, but not just 2 & 3) |

its free in that there are no monthly fees, but you're gonna have to pay for it, they've always said you will pay for extra chapters (they gotta pay for the servers somehow) plus its meant to be the same size as the first chapter. You can't expect something that big to be free
guildwars 2 and chapter 2 are the same thing. Technically its Guild Wars Chapter 2 (and I think the sub-title for it is now Factions... theres a thread on it in Riverside Inn) |

Also, this isn't just an expansion, it has as much content as the first part of the game did. It is, in essence, doubling the map size, adding a ton of new stuff to the exsisting game and professions and having basically the features of an entirely new game. But, it adds onto the first "chapter" like an expansion. It will be priced at $50, but will also be able to be played without chapter 1 (I think). |

It is a stand-alone game, don't need Chapter 1 to play it. AND it is a continuation of Chapter 1, so you can carry characters over from chapter 1 to chapter 2 (got that straight from Gaile Gray one day in LA)

Right now any reported release dates are purely hypothetical. For example, the above amazon date, ANet has said ch2 will be released 1st half 06, well march 31 is right in the middle of that time span.

yeah you can download GW off the site, but you still have to pay for a key to play it. I'm guessing #2 will also be a choice of either buy in-store OR buy the key online and download the client.

basically there should be 2 different releases....one for players who either dont have chapter 1, or want it to be a completely separate account (so they get 4 new slots)...that release should be $50, and it should include a minimal amount of stuff from chapter 1. the second release should just be for people who want it as an add-on to chapter 1. they would get 1 (Hopefully 2) new slots, and just chapter 2 content, and that would be 30-40 bucks

I actually just listened to the interview with Jeff Strain podcast. According to what I remember from the interview, Factions (CH.2) will standalone. It is Anet's philosophy that you should not have to buy the previously released product in order to "catch-up" to the most recently released product (a la EQ). This is entirely consistent with the idea that they made GW a skill based game, not how much time invested in leveling the character to determine your ability to cause havoc. People buying CH.2 will have the choice to level up from 1 to ascension (not clear if it is the same content as the CH.1 low level content or it's own separate low level content), or bring their ascended characters to just play the high level content.

I just hope Chapter 1 character can go through all the "new player" content of chapter 2, espically the new "pre-game". I love PvE and the plot/story.
My fear is they will dump you at a latter part of chapter 2 if I bring my high level existing character. |
